The 53-acre ground lends itself to all sorts of events from a wedding reception with 100 guests to the four-day Shrewsbury Folk Festival – which attracted more than 20,000 visitors in 2013.


The 53-acre showground is a fully licensed venue with a friendly team to help with your planning and organisation.

There is ample parking for more than 2,000 cars, more than 100 toilets, including disabled, a covered bar area, a pavilion with a balcony overlooking the main ring, stands and stalls.

Events large and small use the showground throughout the year and many return time after time. As an added bonus the venue is just a short walk to Shrewsbury town centre and railway station. A river taxi facility from the town centre can also be arranged.

Opened by Her Majesty the Queen on May 21st, 1975, the President’s Pavilion stands at the heart of the West Mid Showground.

Boasting two large function rooms, toilets and kitchen facilities it is suitable for a wide range of functions and conferencing and is available to complement larger events being held on the 53-acre showground.

The ground floor boasts a reception and cloakroom area leading to a spacious function room with kitchen facilities capable of catering for large events. A glass frontage gives a wonderful view of the showground and guests can enjoy an undercover terrace area and a further outdoor picnic and seating area leading up to the main arena.

The first floor boasts a reception area leading to another spacious function room with kitchen facilities. A glass frontage ensures a wonderful view of the showground whatever the weather and opens up onto a balcony spanning the length of the room and overlooking the main arena. A spiral staircase leads down to the ground floor outside area and to the side of the arena.

The President’s Pavilion has male, female and disabled toilet facilities and the ground floor is accessed by both steps and a ramp.

The Berwick Pavilion can be hired alone or in conjunction with the President’s Pavilion and/or the showground site.

The huge building has a large floor space with an integrated bar area and separate kitchen and storage rooms to be used as you wish.

Four separate entrances can be used, which all open out onto the showground and male, female and disabled toilet facilities are available.
